Sam joined Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in July 2004 as a member of the Computing Helpdesk team after graduating with a BSc in Computing from the University of Plymouth. In January 2006, he joined the growing learning technology team in a new position as Learning Technology Support Officer, involved with the administration and further development of the Blackboard virtual learning environment (VLE), Questionmark Computer-Aided Assessment (CAA) system, an in-house Personal Development Planning (PDP) system, and Turnitin.
Sam became a learning technologist in 2009, supporting staff in the Faculty of Education and is part of the Learning Technology Team assisting in the use of learning technologies to enhance learning, teaching, research and assessment. During his time as Learning Technologist, Sam has supported the growth in blended and distance learning, electronic feedback and introduced the PebblePad e-portfolio tool within the faculty.
Sam is also part of a team responsible for defining and supporting the learning technology infrastructure, taking a strategic lead on the Kaltura video streaming platform and Blackboard VLE, as well as working on a range of institutional and faculty projects.
Sam’s current academic interests include the use of video and audio resources in learning and teaching, and connected with his MA in Online and Distance Education, flexible learning pedagogies.
